How to Clean and Wash Walls? Cleaning and washing walls can help refresh the look of a room and maintain a clean living environment.

Supplies you may need:

  1. Dusting tools: Use a duster, microfiber cloth, or a broom to remove loose dust and cobwebs from the walls.

  2. Mild cleaning solution: Mix a solution of mild dish soap or a gentle all-purpose cleaner with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals that may damage the paint or finish.

  3. Soft sponges or cloths: Microfiber cloths or soft sponges work well for washing walls.

  4. Bucket: For holding your cleaning solution.

  5. Ladder or step stool: If you need to reach high areas.

  6. Rubber gloves: To protect your hands from cleaning solutions.

  7. Old towels or drop cloths: Place them on the floor to catch any drips.

Steps:

  1. Dust the walls:

    • Start by removing any loose dust or cobwebs from the walls using a duster or broom. Dust from top to bottom to avoid resettling.

  2. Prepare the cleaning solution:

    • Mix a small amount of mild dish soap or an all-purpose cleaner with warm water in a bucket. Avoid using too much soap, as it may leave a residue.

  3. Test in an inconspicuous area:

    • Before cleaning the entire wall, test your cleaning solution in a small, inconspicuous area to ensure it doesn’t damage the paint or finish.

  4. Wash the walls:

    • Dip a soft sponge or cloth into the cleaning solution and wring out excess water.

    • Wipe the walls gently, starting from the bottom and working your way up to prevent streaks. Use a light touch, especially if you have flat paint.

  5. Rinse with clean water:

    • Wipe the walls with a clean, damp cloth or sponge to remove any soap residue. Make sure not to oversaturate the walls.

  6. Dry the walls:

    • Use a dry, clean cloth or towel to pat the walls dry. This helps prevent streaks and water spots.

  7. Spot cleaning:

    • For stubborn stains, you can use a mixture of baking soda and water to form a paste. Apply the paste to the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, and then gently scrub with a soft brush or cloth.

  8. Touch-up paint if needed:

    • If you notice any areas where the paint has been damaged during cleaning, consider touching up those spots with matching paint.
